Storyline

A vampire relates his epic life story of love, betrayal, loneliness, and dark hunger to an over-curious reporter.

About the Movie

Recently, one of the actors of this movie (Brad Pitt) declared the movie was a disaster and he felt terrible during the shooting, that it was one of his worst interpretations. Well, according to the fans of Anne Rice and her saga, their opinion is different, and even myself, who am not precisely a fan of the saga, admit that it is the best movie of the adaptation of Vampire Chronicles.

Firstly: The movie perfectly portrays the spirit of the novel and the sets are perfect (the differences between Europe and the United States of thate era are magnificently recreated). Next: the actors do their job, regardless of whether they like their roles or not. The historic touch is just great, with multiple film and literary references.

Direction: a good adaptation of a novel which was clamoring for an adaptation. Neil Jordan does his job perfectly in a difficult adaptation.

Screenplay: A very difficult one to adapt because of the complicated plot and the ambiguous nature of the characters. This is portrayed perfectly (and I am not an Anne Rice fan, but she has been the starter of this revival of vampires, regardless of what the fans of Twilight have to say).

Very good costumes, good musicโ€ฆ I am sorry about the complaints of Mr. Brad Pitt, but in vampire movies this one is outstanding.

Four stars.
