In Broad Daylight: The Narvarte Case

In Broad Daylight: The Narvarte Case (A Plena Luz: El Caso Narvarte) is a true crime documentary directed by Alberto Arnaut. It covers the murder cases that took place in the neighborhood of Narvarte.

Five murders, five stories and a neighborhood in common.

This documentary unveils evidence of corruption in the investigation into the murder of five people in the Narvarte neighborhood of Mexico City in 2015.

About the Documentary

9 mm caliber bullets, five people have been murdered, journalists get death threats, political exiles and, behind it all, the shadow of the Governor and political intrigues. The murders were carried out in broad daylight and caused a havoc in the journalist milieu, with indignation towards the evident pressures they were subjected to.

In Broad Daylight: The Narvarte Case brings us closer to the victim’s stories, their families and slowly but surely tries ot explain what was behind these five very dark crimes, which at first glance might have seemed unrelated (or not) and that (according to the documentary) point to the same culprit.

True crime documentaries tend to take on a more police investigative angle. On this occasion though, it veers more leaning on the journalistic chronicle, using media and archive footage, and interviews with not only the family members to the deceased victims, but also journalists and academics. As a documentary it is well elaborated with the footage, interviews and dramatizations.
