Diary of a Gigolo a Steamy Series on Netflix 2022 – Review

This is a telenovela 2.0. Scripted as such, but with good photography. It exudes eroticism from the very start.

Diary of a Gigolo (Diario de un Gigoló) is a Mexican erotic thriller series directed by Sebastián Ortega, starring Jesús Castro, Victoria White and Fabiola Campomanes.

Netflix offers a steamy “number” with Diary of a Gigolo. Unquestionably a telenovela, with all the dramatic moments that entails, and the at times funny exaggerations.

Synopsis

Ana is concerned for her daughter, Julia’s well-being who has been traumatized after the car accident

About the Series

Definitely aimed at the Spanish-speaking audience, as it is not dubbed in English, but does come with subtitles, this series is a telenovela. The outlandish script, exaggerated performances are characteristic of this genre, and Diary of a Gigolo follows that formula.

As a telenovela 2.0 – an upgraded version of this genre – the photography is good, though, as is the score, and the sets are good. The script is full of dramatic confrontations, where the characters look daringly into each other’s eyes either in anger and defiance, or in absolute supernatural lust.

So, if you are expecting Fifty Shades of Grey, you have it here in the form of a melodramatic series.

Our Opinion

It is disappointing that it is not dubbed in English, and we have to rely on the subtitles. Although the story is difficult to take seriously, it is an entertaining number, in more ways than one. It is a true telenovela experience, and we are betting that it will be an absolute hit on Netflix.
