Do Not Disturb ois a Turkish comedy film written, directed by, and starring Cem Yılmaz.

This is the story of that day.

Movie Review

Like in Scorsese’s film “After Hours,” everything will unfold in one night through the adventures and misfortunes of this good man who experiences everything in just one night. “Do Not Disturb” is not one of those visually or technically impactful movies, nor does it have prodigious editing, because the movie revolves around its protagonist, director, and screenwriter, Cem Yilmaz, who constructs a film for his audience with himself as the main character.

It is a likable movie, not hilarious, that focuses more on the performances of its protagonists than on the technical aspect or cinematic storytelling. It seeks the strange and eccentric, but always restrains itself and remains within the realm of what is appropriate, using a formula to please almost everyone and always with good manners.

Somewhat naive in its characters, somewhat light in its treatment, it has a light, pleasant, and likable sense of humor in a movie that can be watched but does not visually impress or, at least for us, leave us laughing out loud. It aims to entertain and be forgotten, without complications or fuss.

A movie directed, written, and starring a comedian cannot have an audience other than its own humor. You may like it or not, find it more or less likable.

A film that seeks to be more theatrical than cinematic.

Our Opinion

It left us a bit lukewarm, without much flavor or substance in both its treatment and sense of humor.

But there will always be viewers who can appreciate this sense of humor.
