Presented as a two-part exhibition in collaboration with David Kordansky Gallery in Los Angeles, Sam Gilliam: The Last Five Years will offer a sweeping view of Gilliam’s expansive, ceaselessly innovative, and boundary-pushing approach to painting, attesting to the artist’s monumental contributions to Modernism and, more broadly, the history of art.
This will be the first posthumous exhibition of Gilliam’s work in the US since his death in 2022.
