Jaume Plensa: Behind the Walls / Detrás del Muro

Galerie Lelong & Co. is pleased to announce the opening of Jaume Plensa: Behind the Walls / Detrás del Muro at the Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) in Mexico City. On view through February 23, 2020, this is the first time one of Plensa’s monumental sculptures is on view in a Mexican museum. Carmen Gaitán, Director of the MUNAL, points to the dialogue of Plensa’s piece with the avant-garde of Mexican art. The presentation was curated by Carmen Reviriego of the Callia Foundation.
Plensa says: “Sometimes our voices are not the best way to speak, our ears not the only way to hear and we do not always see truth with our eyes.” This is the second presentation of the work after its premiere earlier this year in Rockefeller Center as part of Frieze Sculpture. 2019 has been an important year for Plensa. His sculptures continue to take on captivating new forms, as exempli?ed by his recent solo presentations at MACBA, Barcelona, and Palacio de Cristal at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid.
