Metro Pictures is presenting a different artist’s film or series of shorts each weekend to stream online from Friday at noon until Sunday at midnight (Eastern Time).

This week we are screening three short films made by Cindy Sherman while she was an undergraduate at Buffalo State College. In Doll Clothes, which combines live action and animated sequences, a paper doll (played by Sherman) comes to life and dresses herself before a pair of large human hands enters the frame to put the doll and the clothes back into their respective sleeves. Bird is a short documentary featuring Sherman’s blind pet dove. In Unhappy Hooker Sherman plays a prostitute who paces back and forth impatiently keeping watch for a client before an unexpected twist brings the film to an end.
