“Nothing to See Here” is a series saturated with sharp, cutting humor: a blind comedian, the son of an ophthalmologist, heads to the big city to make his dream a reality—becoming a stand-up comedy star. He is accompanied by a group of friends who eventually form an unconventional community: his girlfriend, a trap singer; a couple; and his manager and best friend, who has a brain dysfunction.
In this new chapter of their lives, they strive to do their best, working in a club designed specifically for people with various disabilities. However, things don’t go entirely as planned: the venue remains empty, and his girlfriend is pregnant.
Regarding the Second Season
Although much of the initial surprise is lost, this second season of “Nothing to See Here” continues along the same lines: it’s a character-driven series, funny and charming, filled with jokes that, to varying degrees, hit the mark. The show excels at maintaining its sharp, extravagant humor, with a distinctly Mexican touch and style.
The series boasts a strong script and, most importantly, is anchored by excellent dialogue. It has a steady pace, moving seamlessly from one situation to another without feeling heavy, and features a very light narrative. Much like its protagonist, the series doesn’t take itself too seriously and approaches life with a carefree attitude.
The show stars Alexis Arroyo, who brings the character of Alexis to life. The series also features a large ensemble cast that brings depth to an effective script with equally humorous supporting characters. Kike Vázquez, who portrays Charly, Alexis’s best friend and manager, consistently nails his role.
“Nothing to See Here” is easy to watch and, above all, knows how to be entertaining at every turn. It maintains the agility and daring needed to create a consistently sharp, irreverent, and unmistakable comedic series.
This is a unique series for a unique character, returning to Netflix so the audience can once again smile at the antics of this aspiring stand-up star. Based on what we’ve seen so far, he still has a long way to go before he truly becomes a star.
