Jean-Luc Godard Died at the Age of 91

Jean-Luc Godard passed away today, September 13th in Rolle, Switzerland by assisted dying. The French-Swiss director and screen writer was 91.

Together with François Truffaut, Éric Rohmer, Claude Chabrol and Jacques Rivette, Godard was one of the most prominent film directors and screen writers of the 1960’s, thanks to his contribution to the nouvelle vague, a movement that gained international recognition in its pursuit to innovate cinematic narrative style and approaches.

His first feature film was À bout de souffle, and it is considered the key to the nouvelle vague movement.

His Last movie was Le Livre d’image, filmed in 2018.
