Review of To All the Boys: Always and Forever

Characters each more charming, each more velvety… a movie about a teenager who believes in love and who has a cool boyfriend and fights to keep him against all statistics (no couple survives the distance in college). It’s the story of the last year of high school before leaving for campus, in which our beloved Lara Jean will take us on that typical light comedy of initiation in which parents are supportive, friends are loyal and a lifetime of hopes and dreams await in the Big Apple.

An American comedy, very American, but with touches of style, with its artistic intention. Very mild, that’s for sure. Not that we’re going to learn anything new about maturity or first love, but it’s so tender that… we’re going to save our fangs on this one because we’ve decided to be good.

It’s not a good movie: it takes the classic script, adds even more candy to this Valentine’s Day and tells us the usual teenage story. It’s not a comedy, it’s more serious and takes the characters with relevance, although some viewers might find these things a bit “slippery”.

I warn you: you have to have a youthful spirit and a tender look to see it. A movie for naive teenage girls and don’t expect any kind of off-color behavior.

It has a lot of rhythm and is well paced. Not a disaster at all. It is, however, an important sugar shake (well done, of course).

Netflix.

Our opinion

If you are an educated person who reads Schopenhauer: run away. If what you want is a very light, gentle and tender comedy about a girl coming of age, this one has candor to spare.
