Ōoku: The Inner Chambers is an anime series directed by Kino Abe. It is based on the manga by Fumi Yoshinaga.
This is not your typical traditional Japanese animation. Instead, it turns tradition on its head and takes us to a world where a pandemic has wiped out most of the male population in the country. Only a few have survived and are now employed as studs, available for those who can afford their services.
In a world where marriage has become almost obsolete, this Japanese animation series takes us on a journey through a curious and traditional dystopia. Presented in the classic style of Japanese animation, it is both amusing and entertaining.
With ten episodes, this series is sure to delight fans as it cleverly subverts tradition while maintaining a surprisingly traditional approach.
Enjoy it starting from Thursday, the 29th, on Netflix.
Synopsis
