David Gill Gallery is pleased to return to Expo Chicago 2023 with a bold presentation including the iconic Zaha Hadid ‘Ultrastellar’ works expressing interactions between surface and structure, solid and void, light and shadow. The ‘Aperion’ Console by Sebastian Brajkovic with its ‘vermiculated’ surface demonstrating the artists process of re-interpreting historic motifs by twisting and subverting their forms. This light-hearted approach to history is also evident in the Mattia Bonetti ‘Duchess’ Armchair, shown for the first time in the USA.
A focus is on the work of Milena Muzquiz, her ceramic vessels emerged as vivid memories of her childhood and adolescence in the Californian landscape, visits to beach clubs and ‘banal shopping malls,’ and journeys across the Mexican border. Shown alongside a selection of works by Barnaby Barford, Michele Oka Doner and Fredrikson Stallard.
