For Freedoms, an artist-led organization that centers art as a catalyst for creative civic engagement, will stage a multi-site activation in Chicago during the DNC in order to galvanize attention and discourse surrounding the election through artistic activations.
For Freedoms will install five artist billboards featuring the works of Christine Wong Yap, Ebony G. Patterson, Koyoltzinlti Miranda-Rivadeneira, Jake Troyli, and Slow and Steady Wins the Race will be posted in proximity to work sites. This initiative is in partnership with Gertie, a civic and cultural agency expanding the impact of Chicago’s creative economy. Highlighting the billboard activations, a work by artist Jake Troyli will be presented by For Freedoms as well as a permanent mural at SkyART in partnership with Gertie. Furthermore, artist Autumn Breon will be featured as a speaker at SkyART, she will showcase her Care Machine along with artist talks and panel discussions.
These billboards will be strategically posted from August to October, with installations beginning on August 5th, to maximize visibility and engagement leading up to and during the convention.
