Adrian Cheng, the Founder of K11 Art Foundation, has today announced the formation of the K11 Art Foundation International Council. This new initiative has been established to empower and support the next generation of Chinese artists. The Council will be led by Alia Al-Senussi and is made up of influential collectors and experts in their fields, each renowned for their expertise and unwavering commitment to the arts.
The Council will reflect K11 Art Foundation’s mission to champion and support Chinese contemporary art, with a focus on nurturing future talent. Committed to promoting dialogue and collaborations that transcend borders, their initiatives will help to foster a global art community where diverse perspectives converge and inspire one another.
The Council will convene during significant artworld moments and landmark cultural events. Among their initial objectives is the formation of a new art award to recognise emerging artists from across Asia – celebrating the rich diversity of contemporary art from across the region.
Alia Al-Senussi, a prominent cultural strategist, patron and academic, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Council. She brings a wealth of experience and insight from her distinguished roles spanning almost two decades including; Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, Saudi Arabia, Senior Advisor for International Outreach at Art Basel, and positions on the advisory councils at the Delfina Foundation and Tate Modern in London.

With decades of combined experience that encompasses building significant collections, creating private museums, supporting emerging artists, developing new models for philanthropic investment and serving on advisory boards and committees at the world’s leading art institutions, the Council members are passionate about championing the next generation of contemporary artists. Collectively they will draw on their expertise, experience and network of international key opinion leaders in the cultural sphere to support and promote exceptional artistic practices that challenge boundaries, inspire innovation and contribute to the future of contemporary art.
