NANZUKA is pleased to present a solo exhibition of German artist Tatjana Doll at 3110NZ by LDH kitchen.
Tatjana Doll was born in Burgsteinfurt in Ex-West Germany and graduated from Dusseldorf Art Academy. Her recent major solo exhibitions include, NICHT VORBEIGEHEN. Konrad-von-Soest-Preis 2018 (LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster, 2019), Was heißt Untergrund? (KINDL?Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst, Berlin, 2021), Tatjana Doll. Sagggio sul tempo (Accademia Tedesca Roma Villa Massimo, Rome, 2021), etc.
Doll enjoys painting all sorts of subjects, including cars, planes, road signs, a scene from a movie, or an old masterpiece. This interest in various subjects resembles our first impulse, as human beings, to paint in order to satisfy our intellectual curiosity, as we grow and develop.
In the meantime, her works have an aspect of exploration of the socio-political contexts of the subjects, which she translates into large-scale enamel and oil paintings in a direct, quick, and sometimes raw painting style, exuding a feeling of unrest, threat, and danger that is evident in the various subtexts of the works.
In this exhibition, 4 paintings from Doll’s car painting series are on view, including that of Rolls Royce Sweptail – a one-off luxury car valued at $12.8 million -, likewise, of Bugatti La Voiture Noire, moreover, Lamborghini Sian, and Bugatti Centodieci as the other luxury cars.
We look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition.
