The Visual Arts Commission has revealed plans for the first-ever Art Week Riyadh, a transformative initiative celebrating Saudi Arabia’s evolving artistic landscape. The event will unite prominent galleries, cultural organizations, artists, benefactors, collectors, and art enthusiasts from both local and international spheres.
This non-commercial venture builds upon the foundation of a vibrant artistic community, fostering an environment where visual arts can thrive and evolve. Art Week Riyadh’s programming emphasizes historical appreciation, contemporary celebration, and future investment, highlighting the rich diversity of Saudi’s artistic panorama.
The inaugural celebration will feature comprehensive programming across Riyadh, with its central operations based at the JAX District in historic Diriyah. Key features include:
- Exhibitions: A showcase of creative works from both established and emerging talents, presented through leading Saudi and international galleries.
- Collectors’ exhibitions: Specially curated exhibitions featuring private collections, offering rare glimpses into exclusive artworks.
- Public programming and events: Immersive talks, workshops, and performances focusing on education, collaboration, and inclusivity, designed to connect and inspire diverse audiences.
The inaugural theme At The Edge explores concepts of boundaries, transformations, and transitional spaces, reflecting Riyadh’s position as a global cultural nexus.
Art Week Riyadh represents an initiative of Saudi Arabia’s Visual Arts Commission, one of 11 specialized commissions under the Ministry of Culture’s umbrella, guiding the development of the Kingdom’s visual arts sector.

The event is scheduled to take place from 6 to 13 April 2025.
