David Zwirner. Opening This Week. Studio: Lisa Yuskavage. Launching Today, May 19, 2020

David Zwirner Online is pleased to announce Studio: Lisa Yuskavage, launching today, May 19, 2020. The third iteration in the gallery’s Studio series, this presentation introduces three recent paintings by Lisa Yuskavage that embody her unique approach. In their classical formal qualities and their dialogue with both pop culture and art history, Yuskavage’s works resist categorization, insisting instead on their own kind of emotional formalism in which characters and pictorial inventions assume equal importance.

Studio is a series of solo projects that are presented weekly online. This series aims to highlight recent works by artists the gallery represents in the context of their current artistic practices––whether in the studio or elsewhere. Through personal snapshots, films, audio recordings, and reference imagery, this series reflects on how artists have adapted their studio practices in these transient months. Past iterations include Studio: Carol Bove and Studio: Liu Ye, with a presentation by Raymond Pettibon forthcoming.
