Stockholm is a 2018 American film directed and written by Robert Budreau and starring Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace.
Stockholm is a comedy about a bank robbery: funny and light cinema … very ironic and entertaining movie.
Plot
Based on the absurd but true 1973 bank heist and hostage crisis in Stockholm that was documented in the New Yorker as the origins of the ‘Stockholm Syndrome’.
Review
In 1973 a bank in civilized Sweden was hijacked by a guy raised in America. This originated love (you know, it’s everywhere) and now Robert Budreau gives us this somewhat surreal view of the fact.
It is funny and witty, especially when it comes to the social differences between Sweden and the United States, so civilized or so wild. The film shows us these differences at all times, mocking a bit of both ways of understanding society (a little rough, some too civilized others).
Ethan Hawke, who for once make a moviewith movements, gestures and others (it is appreciated) and Naomi Rapace, who makes us believe this bizarre story that (it happens) is based on a real event.
Just fun, no laughs, just entertaining. Few sets, unkown actors (except the main roles) and a script that is not original, but that is attractive for comedy lovers that only pretend to live a funny moment. An entertainment that will not go far, but will make us smile.
We give it two and a half stars as a comedy. Nothing from outer space but a good entertainment.
