kamel mennour releases video directed by
We Are From LA’s Pierre Dupaquier that sees the gallery’s artists and children around the world connect virtually in response to COVID-19

6 May 2020 – A video directed and edited by Pierre Dupaquier (We Are From LA, known for the Grammy he won for his video for Pharrell Williams’ Happy) and produced by kamel mennour sees the gallery’s roster of artists alongside children around the world connect virtually to send messages of hope and wishes for the future. Paper planes are launched into the air that unfold with messages encouraging us all to stay home, socially distance and wear masks, while thanking all the key workers and front line staff who are keeping society running, set to the soundtrack of M.I.A’s Paper Planes.

Kamel Mennour is now asking other children to join in with an open invitation to respond to the question “how do you see the world after this?” with a drawing on an A4 sheet of paper – kids are invited to post, email or leave their creations at the Paris gallery (rue Saint André des Arts) from 11 May 2020 and all the works will be shown for the gallery’s reopening exhibition on 23 May 2020, alongside responses from the gallery’s artists. The works will be sold – all at the same price – to raise funds for the Fondation Abbé Pierre and the Necker Hospital.

Participants include: Neïl Beloufa, Hicham Berrada, Mohamed Bourouissa, Marie Bovo, Daniel Buren, Latifa Echakhch, Liam Everett, Michel François, Douglas Gordon, Petrit Halilaj, David Hominal, Ann Veronica Janssens, Alfredo Jarr, Tadashi Kawamata, Alicja Kwade, Bertrand Lavier, Claude Lévêque, Matthew Lutz-Kinoy, Danielle Morrellet, Frederic Morellet, Philippe Parreno, Robin Rhode, Ugo Rondinone, Zineb Sedira, Tatiana Trouvé, Studio Lee Ufan, and Shen Yuan.

The video can be viewed via Instagram on @kamelmennour’s IGTV and is available on the gallery’s YouTube channel.
