On January 17, 2021, beginning at 11 a.m., The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Sunday at The Met series will present a virtual talk focusing on the exhibition design for The Costume Institute’s About Time: Fashion and Duration.
Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, and visual artist and stage designer Es Devlin, who designed the exhibition, will discuss the inspiration, planning, and execution of the exhibition’s design. The galleries feature two enormous clock faces organized around the principle of 60 minutes of fashion. Moderated by Asad Syrkett, Editor in Chief of Elle Décor, the discussion will explore how the temporal twists and turns of fashion history were translated into the physical space.
The talk can be viewed on The Met’s website or on YouTube, where it will remain available for viewing free of charge.
Sunday at The Met is an ongoing program providing insight into current exhibitions as well as the Museum’s collection. It features lectures, films, discussions, readings, panels, demonstrations, and performances.
