Shamshera is what Bollywood expects of a movie from Bollywood….but it takes it a bit further. So if you are not used Indian cinema, this film will leave you with a good taste in your mouth, and will entice you to continue watching.
The movie poses as a classic Hollywood film that has it all, and its producers have ensured that nothing is amiss: romance, adventures, action, treason. It is an epic story such as would a novel like War and Peace be, with a Bollywood touch. Amusing, while engaging with its thematic juggling, and its particular way of integrating the sequence changes, it is a genre balancing act.
It has a lot to emphasize, and it stands out from what we would otherwise be offered. The beautiful Vaani Kapoor performs with versatility and provides that counterpoint that all action movie requires.
Without crashing the structures of the genre, it does challenge them; it has a humorous approach and manages to entertain the viewer with a good watching experience. Quite a good option for a Friday evening, and start the weekend with a production that is laden with an abundance of color and with good story-telling.
It is an adventure movie with its inviting idiosyncrasies, and it will be released today in movie theaters around the globe. It might actually become an international blockbuster.
