A group of colleagues will do the impossible to defend their mining company from alien monsters who want to plunder it.
Review
This is a classic example of a “silly” movie without big frills to be watched as a pastime. It is an amusing film, with its slight 00’s touch, and wanting to offer to the audience completely inconsequential entertainment, and allow us to give in to the guilty pleasure of dilly-dallying.
If you like it or not will probably be, in great part, determined by your, the spectators’, mood. However, if you like ‘The Office’, or are fed-up with your 9 to 5 job, this movie will provide you with some comic relief – there are definitely office scenes, and funny ones at that, which those of us who have kept our noses to the grindstone in such environments will appreciate. The script is really good, and it satirizes office work and politics on point. It will make you laugh, or snicker in recognition of the awkward encounters and events in the workplace.
Making it even funnier is that aliens are involved. Yeah, office environments can seem surreal enough for one think that there might be otherworldly creatures in the midst. It gives it the absurd ‘Shaun of the Dead’ (2004) humoristic touch.
It is not pretentious, nor subtle in its humor, aspects it does not hide. Laden with easy jokes, it does though have a likeable geeky quality.
The cast is really good, and the ensemble of characters is hilarious.
Our Opinion
If you are looking for something serious, complex, or a sophisticated parody with triple meanings, this is not it. If you like ‘The Office’ (2001) and ‘Shaun of the Dead’ (2004), this is the movie for you.
