Inside Job (2010) – Documentary about Wall Street and the 2008 Financial Crisis

Inside Job is a documentary directed by Charles Ferguson about the financial collapse in 2008 that caused a chain reaction of bankruptcies of various mastodons such as Lehman Brothers.

It counts on the narration by Matt Damon.

Premise

An exposé of the machinations behind the economic crisis of 2008, which led to the GFC – Global Financial Crisis. At the elevated cost of over $20 trillion, and with devastating repercussions for people worldwide, who lost their jobs, homes and financial security. With in depth research and interviews with financial insiders, politicians and journalists, this documentary chronicles rise of a rogue industry and unveils the nefarious relationships which corrupted politicians, regulators, business insiders and academia.

Our Take

What took place in the years 2007 and 2008, and prior, that would lead to a global financial crisis? This documentary explains (partially, some would say) how a certain financial and economic model, leverages, abusive commissions and poor governance, allowed Wall Street to play with predatory lending, junk bonds, leverages and the rest that pulled us to a disaster we are still savoring to this day, and that it seems, nobody has learned from.

“Of course we did.”, you might say.

I will simply dare to say that this documentary is a must-see for any earthling.
