Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me is a documentary directed by Alek Keshishian about the six “dark” years Selena Gomez spent after learning of her illness.

An intimate portrait of the super star and some of the very difficult challenges she has to face is brought to us in a format that shines bright with the sheen that only the most demanding aesthetes can offer.

Premise

After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light.

About the Documentary

It cannot be denied that Keshishian is a superb cinematographer, and has that fashion and high concept optic that he so well conveys onto a documentary.

In the same way as he did in the documentary Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991), he alternates between color footage and monochromatic takes, his signature style.

Our Opinion

‘Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me’ is beautifully produced, carrying the Keshishian stamp. On a visual level it is pristine. On a narrative level it is moving.
