Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is a animation movie directed by Stephen Donnelly. And, of course, it’s based on the classic story by Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol.
The Christmas classic, this time round with spectacular animation in musical form for the younger ones.
Premise
On a cold Christmas Eve, selfish miser Ebenezer Scrooge has one night left to face his past — and change the future — before time runs out.
Movie Review
Relatively true to the original text, with its numerous musical numbers it is a charming adaptation of the classic.
In this movie the story and its moral of the story are conveyed in an entertaining narrative style, with the right amount of humor and at a measured pace. A truly well-executed screenplay that clearly counts on a budget and the means to pull it through convincingly.
Luke Evans stands out with his voice over as Scrooge, and Olivia Colman who is brilliant taking on various roles.
Needless to say that it does require that the spectator wants to see the story again.

Other Reviews
“This is certainly not a Christmas Carol for purists, and the over-the-top (…) But it provides a decent enough introduction to the story for younger viewers”
Frank Scheck: The Hollywood Reporter
“The voices of Olivia Colman, Luke Evans and Jessie Buckley can’t enliven an ugly, joyless retread of the Dickens classic (…) Rating: ★ (out of 5)”
