This sequel to Godzilla is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga.
Well, another installment of Godzilla and don’t worry, I’m going to make jokes because this movie seems to be made for that. Thanks to the writers and whatever they have drunk.
Premise
Well, Godzilla is out there wandering around because the Earth is now hollow and home to monsters. Some of them are the titans and Godzilla is out there also. It’s like every monster wants to try their strength and, as you expected, there is always a terrorist (this time they are ecological terrorists) ready to create chaos.
The Movie
The first dialogue made me fall to the ground. One of the characters makes a question about the terrorists who are going to resurrect another beast, as if it was an everyday issue. And a super-scientist answers: they are looking for biological evidence, so they might be in the biology lab. Well, okay, I don’t know where they studied, but… I asume they had a good time at the College.
The movie is about big monsters that fight each other and in the meantime, they have to put some characters and people saying how serious this is, while Godzilla waits up to destroy everything, although now Godzilla is good because the politicians are discussing whether to kill some beasts that destroy cities… or not.
Sorry, do I have to talk about acting? Well, actors have good teeth because the role requires it. They have been told: in this scene you have to open your mouth with a face of astonishment. Gee, I don’t know, they do it… well. Congratulations to the dentist!
The whole thing is very funny, but you get to consider the philosophical problem of… did they really mean it?
On a visual level you can already imagine that this is a great show, and we congratulate our fellow geeks out there, consuming tons of French fries because they have worked hard at it. It’s just like when dragons appear in Game of Thrones, but in a wild way.
Then, Godzilla escapes from Argentina and at this point the plot gets so absurd that makes you wonder: What does Messi think about this? (Luckily, there is no Maradona ending the film abruptly). So many questions for an intellect as small as mine.
It has rhythm, it is entertaining and to enjoy it in movie theaters, a show that follows the saying ‘for a dumb and dumber’.
Our Opinion
Well, I want to meet the writers and have a drink with them because this is worth it. I am concerned about the matter that if this is what survives this generation and they find such a jewel… what will they come to think of us? (Okay, we were a bit stupid).
Oh, speaking of Game of Thrones, dragons look like jumping birds compared to these critters.
In any case, this is quite a show to leave the brain at home (if we ever take it out for a walk). Not so bad.
