Premise
Kim Hye-joo searches for her daughter who seems to have disappeared. Kim Hye-joo is in a loving marriage and manages her small business efficiently while her husband wants to rise in his political ambitions. After a tragic accident, their entire world falls apart and all sorts of secrets emerge which will test the couple.
About the series
An entertaining series that is far removed from the latest series from South Korea in streaming: The Trolley knows how to handle the elements it has wisely, combine them with elegance and offer us, on an artistic and rhythmic level, an elaborate play that combines in a very good way melodrama, politics and intrigue that is always far from frenetic formulas and which chooses almost always to go more into the depths of the characters than the actual action.
An interesting premise, which when well developed, enables the main actors to offer us good acting in this collage that knows how to play with contrasts, both photographic as well as in the story telling, although at all times it chooses to follow the path of “delicacy”.
This is not an aggressive political thriller and this is what makes it original: the sensitivity and slow approach of the characters and the story manage to give it that slow touch and above all, distinction that manages to give a “voice” to the series.
A very cinematographic series with a very visual treatment that manages to put a distance from a more traditional style production that will please a viewer with more delicate tastes and who wants to see more inner drama than uncontrolled action.
Our Opinion
Give it a chance, especially the actors, who know how to shape and compose this story that knows how to progress and propose a rhythm.
Another thing will be if this rhythm will “gel” in all the spectators.
