Fancy a drama about male abuse? Here you have one called “Alice, Darling”, a movie written by Alanna Francis which, thanks to a good screenplay, the goals of the movie are reached in an intelligent manner… that is also manipulative (as the plot reveals to us).

This is a story about psychological abuse that is well narrated and is also a “social denouncement” and you need to be prepared for this. A drama (feminine, evidently) and a denouncement featuring three women who defend themselves and a friend.

Technically this has a very good screenplay that goes shaping and offering the keys to the story very step by step in the drama. Going into a little more depth in the character each time, offering us a little here and a little there until reaching the end (of which the trailer offers us a good spoiler).

As far as production is concerned, this is a very simple straightforward movie: no elaborate sets or elaborate situations that stray from the plot. The true story is inside and it is revealed little by little, like Alice´s locks of hair.

This is a movie that is more appealing sentimentally than technically and places more weight on its internal story than an excellent narration.

It does not need or require any special narrating and this is the right decision.

Our Opinion

This film uses the power of simplicity to tell in a very intelligent way, a tragic story.

If you’re looking for a powerhouse in the acting industry, actress Anna Kendrick is it. With roles in films such as Up In The Air, Twilight, Pitch Perfect, and many more, Kendrick has easily established herself as one of the most popular and beloved actresses in Hollywood today.

Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine and began her career in musical theater at a very young age. As she continued to hone her craft over the years, she moved on to television and film. She earned numerous awards for her performances in Rocket Science (2007) and Up In The Air (2009). However, it was her starring role as Beca Mitchell in the Pitch Perfect franchise that skyrocketed her to stardom.
