‘Make my Day’ (2023): Futuristic Anime on Netflix

Make My Day is an animated movie directed by Makoto Honda. The screenplay is written by Yasuo Ohtagaki.

Make My Day is a Japanese animated series that takes us to a sort of Half Life (the videogame) in a strange planet where a dangerous plague is spreading that will affect humanity. The only ones that reach this place are the worst criminals, condemned and alone fighting against a very real threat.

Another anime proposal on Netflix that lately is providing us with a couple of them every week (Record of Ragnarok was the latest one). This time, a very different kind of offering with much more computer animation, more modern and less “classic”, but will surely find its audience in the endless and thrilling world of Japanese anime.

So now you know what lies in store for us: creatures that rise from the inside of a frozen planet that are a threat for Humanity and a group of armed characters trying to deal with the threat (impossible to not be reminded of HALO and other similar styled video-games).

An addictive plot told in a very cinematographic rhythm with detailed characters… a series for adults that the fans will be grateful for.

Storyline

On a cold planet of ice and snow, mysterious creatures suddenly have appeared from the dark underground and have begun to attack the inhabitants. Can humanity survive the terror lurking beyond the horizon?

Make my Day – Episodes

Episode 1

Jim prepares for another day at work as a guard at White Prison. During his commute, he notices that something is off.

Episode 2

As Jim scavenges through broken pieces of equipment, Walter reluctantly lends a hand. They manage to signal for help but must escape discreetly.

Episode 3

Jim has a flashback to his childhood self with Ed and Marnie. Back in reality, an unlikely ally rescues him from the rubble.

Episode 4

Devastated by the horrendous sight, Jim rushes to save Ed. But they are no match against the deadly beast.

Episode 5

Ambushed while using the restroom, Jim regains consciousness behind bars. Worried about Marnie, he must think on his feet.

Episode 6

After Dr. Hadson blacks out, Marnie attempts to take over the navigation. Meanwhile, Boyd and Rachel provide vital information regarding the Swarm.

Episode 7

All hope is lost, but nature doesn’t wait — Marnie goes into labor. Walter reveals the truth about his dark past.

Episode 8

With everyone’s support, Jim sets his plan in motion to bait the Swarm. All seems to go well until Howard goes rogue.
