Squared Love All Over Again (Miłość do kwadratu jeszcze raz) is a movie directed by Filip Zylber starring Adrianna Chlebicka and Mateusz Banasiuk..

In this second part of Squared Love we continue where we left off and go on more or less as expected, trying to turn over the screenplay and say “nothing new here” and will try, using the same framework, to make it work.

And, using these same frameworks, it didn´t work the first time around and doesn´t work the second time.

However, this is a movie that divides specialized reviewers and the audience: The first one was totally profitable.

Storyline

A famous journalist and a fashion model teacher try to redo their lives and return to their jobs after a passionate relationship. When they return, they discover that things have changed, forever?

Movie Review

Squared Love Again is a movie to be measured with two levels and depending on the point of view, we can defend it or destroy it at will. If the story of a “teacher and professional model” seems ridiculous to you, skip this movie. If it seems to be relatively interesting so as to consider that these screenwriters have known how to consider the cannons of romantic comedy with a certain “meta-irony”… go ahead, see what dark path you embark on.

From a cinematographic point of view, this is an easy continuation of a framework that is even easier, planned from production, a product is created that is satisfying for the audiences according to an (elaborate?) marketing study. Characters that are not ambitious and which have been exhausted in the first part, are given new situations in which to squeeze a little more juice out of this lemon that serves as a trampoline for other productions of the country (Poland).

And, as happened with the first film, here is where we can defend it (it has been hard to do so, believe me): this is a good production which, due to its simplicity and acquiescence in following the cannons, serves the industry and backs (without attempting to do so), other more ambitious productions.

In its simplicity, it manages to get the job done and nobody here has attempted to make Citizen Kane and the screenplay is not Ulysses: they settle for fulfilling the evident romantic comedy elements and give these two beings born in the test-tube of Iam, the production company, a second chance, and these characters, serving their purpose, don´t invent any vaccine against solitude, but do momentarily make this inevitable transition to yet another Valentine´s Day with comedies that are not so funny like this one.

Our Opinion

Two stars and a half because they know how to please the audience it has been created for and we grant recognition for the work of the entire team, who do a very professional job.
