The Pope’s Exorcist is the latest horror film from director Julius Avery and starring Russell Crowe with supporting actors Alex Essoe, Franco Nero, and Laurel Marsden.
Based on the two memoirs of Father Gabriele Amorth: An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories; the film follows the priest and his experiences with battling an evil that ensnared countless victims. He performed upwards of 100,000 exorcisms throughout his life, as well as served as the Chief Exorcist of the Vatican. As he investigates a young boy’s case, Amorth unearths an old conspiracy hidden by the Vatican itself. Father Amorth died in 2016 at the age of 91.
