How to Get Rich is a new American Netflix documentary series starring Ramit Sethi.

Remember the documentary Get Smart with Money? Well, it was a hit, at least with audiences. Now comes this sort of sequel, in the form of a series and way wittier.

Its name, not very subtle, How to Get Rich. It consists of eight episodes in the form of a reality show, but this time with financial advice on how to get a little more out of your money in a coherent way. Of course, it is specially designed to match the flavor of the American audience.

Will you get rich watching this docuseries? More than likely not, but it’s full of good advice along the lines of “don’t spend more than you make” (duh…) and the like. Good production, obvious about marketing (showing luxury cars and such) and all the bling-bling that comes with it.

Very good photography and editing but, in the end, it is shot almost like an infomercial and its purpose is almost similar. Little to highlight cinematographically.

As for getting rich… Ramit Sethi is into the business of giving advice on how to make fortunes to “make a living”. He has been a NYT best-seller.

It’s up to you (the documentary might not be subtle, but I am).

A docuseries that, precisely, does not stand out for its subtlety.

If you are in the mood for some financial tips presented in a fun and entertaining way, this might be your thing.

Remember those reality shows about little animals that misbehave and then the great César Millán arrives to fix our lives? Well, a bit like that, but with dollars.
