Locked In is a movie directed by Nour Wazzi and written by Rowan Joffe. It stars Famke Janssen, Rose Williams, Alex Hassell, and Finn Cole.

Are you ready for a thrilling mystery filled with betrayals and surprises? “Locked In” is an old-school thriller with intrigue, grand mansions, and unresolved pasts. It’s an exciting journey to uncover what happened to a woman, her son, and the woman who became the center of it all.

“Locked In” is a French thriller that will surely enchant lovers of elegant and sophisticated mystery films, with some intriguing plot twists and excellent performances by Famke Janssen and Rose Williams, who bring all the mystery that the script demands to their characters.

Plot

Troubled by her strained relationship with her delicate mother-in-law, Katherine, discontented newlywed Lina finds herself embroiled in a web of secrecy, betrayal, and murder. As a sinister plot unfolds to seemingly dismantle her life, Lina must grapple with the question of who the true victim is and who she can genuinely rely on.

Movie Review

Above all, “Locked In” presents a very interesting way of telling the story, narrated through flashbacks that gradually reveal what happened to these three characters who, destined for tragedy, found themselves involved in a series of complications that ended with the death of the son, the mother as a victim of a hit-and-run, and she, the prime suspect in everything.

The film features some twists, but it truly shines in its stylistic and script aspects, with well-crafted atmosphere and a slow-paced rhythm. It’s not a movie with abrupt plot twists, but rather constructs and narrates the story in a calm and almost novelistic manner, taking its time in each scene to create mystery.

It’s an interpretive duel between two women, the seemingly innocent and the wicked mother. It’s not everything as it seems, and the film knows how to twist the story to avoid falling into obviousness.

It’s not the thriller that will stay with you for a lifetime, nor is it the most surprising film of the year. It’s a genre film that, meeting expectations and fully aware of the territory it navigates, remains faithful to its style, elegantly composed, with a slow and stylized approach. In different hands, it could have easily been a mere TV movie.

Our Opinion

A perfect film for an autumnal touch, filled with mystery and featuring two talented actresses who excel in their performances. Highly recommended for mystery film lovers.
