Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, born on December 22, 1962, is an accomplished English actor, film producer, and director. He has been a dedicated ambassador for UNICEF UK since 1999. Fiennes initially gained recognition for his exceptional performances on stage at the Royal National Theater, where he showcased his talent as a Shakespearean actor. He made his debut in the film industry by portraying Heathcliff in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.

Fiennes’s portrayal of Amon Göth, a Nazi war criminal, in Schindler’s List (1993) brought him critical acclaim. This role earned him nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor, and he ultimately won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. His exceptional performance as Count Almásy in The English Patient (1996) garnered him a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, as well as nominations for BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards.

Throughout his career, Fiennes has appeared in numerous notable films, including Quiz Show (1994), Strange Days (1995), The End of the Affair (1999), Red Dragon (2002), The Constant Gardener (2005), In Bruges (2008), The Reader (2008), Clash of the Titans (2010), Great Expectations (2012), and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). Additionally, he lent his voice to the character of Rameses in The Prince of Egypt (1998).

Fiennes is widely recognized for his portrayal of the main antagonist, Lord Voldemort, in the popular Harry Potter film franchise (2005–2011). He also appeared in the James Bond series as Gareth Mallory / M, starting with the 2012 film Skyfall.

In 2011, Fiennes made his directorial debut with his film adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy Coriolanus, in which he also played the title character. His exceptional work in this film earned him a Tony Award for his portrayal of Prince Hamlet on Broadway.
