Fiennes initially gained recognition for his exceptional performances on stage at the Royal National Theater, where he showcased his talent as a Shakespearean actor. He made his debut in the film industry by portraying Heathcliff in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.
Fiennes’s portrayal of Amon Göth, a Nazi war criminal, in Schindler’s List (1993) brought him critical acclaim. This role earned him nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor, and he ultimately won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
