Encounters is a 2023 documentary miniseries directed by Yon Motskin and produced by Amblin Television, Boardwalk Pictures, and Vice Studios. It is now streaming on Netflix.
The four episode series covers a number of stories about encounters with extraordinary phenomena, featuring revelations from witnesses, whistleblowers, as well as the coverage these occurrences received from major news corporations.
The four episodes focus on the following stories: strange lights in the sky over small-town Texas in 2008, and witnessed by purportedly over 300 people; a submersible space crafts haunting a coastal Welsh village; an alien encounter with schoolchildren in Zimbabwe; Non-human intelligence reportedly interfering with a nuclear power plant in Japan
The series features interviews with what are sometimes referred to as “experiencers” (people who have seen or even claim to encounter inexpiable lights in the sky, or who believe to have encountered alien beings), scientists, and military personnel, as well as never before seen archival footage. It goes beyond the science to highlight the profoundly human impact of these encounters on lives, families, and communities.
We have absolutely no way of verifying any of the claims that are brought forth in this docu-series. Nevertheless, it is subject that will probably interest many a viewer.
The production is rather formulaic, but good, nonetheless. It is fast paced, counts on good editing, and a score that will elevate the suspenseful atmosphere. Each episode is close to an hour long.
