‘A Cut Above’ 2022 Netflix Comedy Review

A YA movie to clear away our sorrows.

Review

A fast-paced, humorous, colorful, rhythmic movie that exudes good vibes all the way.

The performances are not bad at all. Being the slapstick comedy it is they do the overacting required to make it fun, and lighthearted.

There are plenty of effects, such as flashbacks in blurry yet colorful takes; pop-ups with direct messages – a 2022 trademark in YA movies – with the pings of the notifications when the messages arrive; funky, and happy score to set the good vibe atmosphere; the protagonist talks directly into the camera, every once in a while to share his “oh, well” thoughts.

Loaded with likeable and fun characters, it is an entertaining and enjoyable viewing experience. It lives up to our expectations of being a feel-good movie with an optimistic story. This is a lighthearted, summer movie picaresque.
