End of the Road (2022)

End of the Road is a thriller directed by Millicent Shelton, starring Queen Latifah, Beau Bridges and Ludacris.

Premise

A struggling widow decides that she and her children are to start anew in another state. They set off by car, driving across the country. Once they reach the New Mexico desert things start to get awry.

Review

Get the popcorn ready for this pop-culture thriller/action feature. It starts slowly, introducing us to the characters, and slowly but surely gets to the murky part of the story. But the operative word is slow.

The premise is simple, formulaic. With nods to the classic thriller or even horror genres in a few of its scenes and sequences, without going above and beyond in its development.

Visually sharp, with good photography, and of course the mandatory filters in today’s movie making, it sets the tone, or mood, for a movie that culminates in the middle of a desert.

The highlights are Queen Latifah, who excels in the action scenes, and it was a surprise to see Beau Bridges on screen again, this time as the local police officer.

Our Opinion

This is an action thriller that is to certain extent entertaining, if you don’t want something too complicated you will enjoy it. The highlights are Queen Latifah and Beau Bridges.
