Movie Review

What better than a good old murder mystery that counts on a prime ensemble cast to spend a couple of hours massively entertained? A delight for mystery fans.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a film that knows how to, above all else, manage the timing and play with the irony by using a classic movie narrative, in a time that cannot find its own rhythm nor aesthetics. Imagine if Agatha Christie lived in this day and age and dedicated one of her stories to this time. The early 21st Century archetypes she would include (we speculate) in the premise are all in this film – perhaps, she would have approached the characters with more biting wit.

This sequel to Knives Out (2019) is much more contemporary than its predecessor (an excellent film, by the way), and while using the same formula, it is refreshingly up to date.

It is more comical, with an uplifted tempo, extravagant but within limits, its remains classical in the structure, and allows us to be entertained by the good performances. Daniel Craig takes on his role with ease, while Dave Bautista, who embodies his macho role convincingly and with a great comedic take. Edward Norton shines as the host, in this choral movie, who is conflicted by the presence of the character played by Janelle Monáe.

Our Opinion

A movie that delivers on its promise, with a brilliant ensemble cast, and extravagant premise so rich that it offers entertainment throughout the over two hours of running time. Enjoy!
