“Candy Cane Lane” is a movie directed by Reginald Hudlin starring Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Jillian Bell.
Prime Video brings us an old friend for Christmas, our beloved Eddie Murphy, returning with this whimsical, family-friendly Christmas comedy filled with fantasy, elves, and holiday sweets.
Let’s face it: the world is filled with wars, epidemics, and global artificial intelligence that threatens to disrupt the system as we know it today. Don’t you think it’s a good time for a classic Christmas movie?
Synopsis
A man, determined to win the neighborhood’s annual Christmas decorating contest, makes a pact with an elf to help him win. However, the elf casts a spell bringing the twelve days of Christmas to life, bringing chaos to the small, unsuspecting town.
Review of “Candy Cane Lane”
A timeless family comedy, with the great Eddie Murphy making a pact with a mischievous elf. It’s a very Hollywood, very American, very festive production that seems almost indistinguishable from others.
Yes, “Candy Cane Lane” is all that and more: the elves, with their charming animation, are by far the funniest part of a movie that, although it won’t go down in history, does offer a festive (and Christmassy) time for both young and old who believe in Christmas.
Eddie Murphy’s timeless charm is truly remarkable: a man who seemingly doesn’t age, portraying a thirty-something father despite being 62 years old. His acting skills remain unaltered, at least in this film where he can’t fully unleash his ironic humor or mischievous side.
A film for children of all ages, enjoyable but not a masterpiece, that arrives every year as just another holiday product.
Before the world comes to an end.
Enjoy!
