Napoleon is an historical drama movie directed by Ridley Scott, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon. This will the first production collaboration between actor and director since Gladiator (2000). Initially titled ‘Kitbag’, in early 2022 it was decided that ‘Napoleon’ should be the film’s ultimate title.

You can look forward to a grand scale film, with several big battles being featured, and a close look at the dynamics between Napoleon and his wife Josephine.

The movie will be released on Apple TV+ this year.

Ridley Scott was born on 30th November, 1937, in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England, the son of Elizabeth and Colonel Francis Percy Scott. His younger brother, Tony Scott, also chose the a path in film directing and producing. Ridley Scott’s favorite movies during his youth include the classics Lawrence of Arabia, Citizen Kane and Seven Samurai. Scott studied in West Hartlepool College of Art, graduating with a Diploma in Design. He progressed to an M.A. in graphic design at the Royal College of Art from 1960 to 1962. His directorial debut was in 1977 The Duellists, and two years later directed the iconic sci-fi film Alien (1979) See his full filmography here
