Movie Review

Me llamo Chihiro
Call Me Chihiro (2023)

This movie is all about taking its time in order to describe the characters and the situations, the inner world and, above all, that poetic world that extends itself beyond the narrative, which is apparently simple and even uncomplicated if considered from a classic way, but is essentially paused and reflective, a very beautiful movie.

Call Me Chihiro is, above all a movie in which the lead character knows how to seduce the viewer and displays herself  exactly as she is: this movie is not contrived in any way nor does it seek fooling us somehow, it is direct to the heart and confesses its sins and deliver in its maximum “simplicity”, bring a smile, a moment of tranquility and above all, trust in order to tell a love story from this other point of view, from the special point of view that combines realism with poetry in a difficult meeting point, forgetting sordidness and transforming it into something beautiful, this is that kind of character and this is how the movie that upholds the character tells her story.

Call Me Chihiro (2023)

Exquisite cinematography, especially in contrasting sequences.

This is a movie about very human things as well as poetical ones, but more than that, a story that knows how to bring to life the characters that surround Chihiro and do something difficult: give them all humanity, personality and a reason for existing in a charming simple screenplay that is not at all simplistic.

A delightful movie to be enjoyed and where the eyeglasses of the sarcastic and bitter intellectual should be left to one side.

This is not Chihiro´s audience.

Our Opinion

Charming, goes straight to the heart… a movie that reveals itself in its deep calmness and humanity.
