Movie Reviews

“In fascinating detail and with dazzling finesse, ‘Casino’ lays out how the mob controlled and ultimately lost Las Vegas (…) An extraordinary piece of filmmaking, the picture is rough and unflinching” Todd McCarthy: Variety

“To a degree, the strategy works; it creates an almost surgical slice of backroom intrigue. Yet the discursive, this-happened-and-this-happened-and-then-this approach that Scorsese employs has a serious drawback.” Owen Gleiberman: Entertainment Weekly

“There’s an interesting expositional side to the film, with De Niro and Joe Pesci’s characters both serving as interactive narrators, but the film never becomes very involving as drama” Jonathan Rosenbaum: Chicago Reader
