Dark Harvest in a horror movie directed by David Slade starring Casey Likes, Luke Kirby and Jeremy Davies.
If you’re looking for a truly scary horror movie for Halloween, Prime Video brings us “Dark Harvest”, a film that, without too many pretensions but with very good atmospherics, meets horror movie fans expectations quite well.
I will admit though, I did not have many expectations.
Synopsis
In a cursed town, the annual harvest becomes a brutal battle for survival. On Halloween 1963, Sawtooth Jack, a terrifying legend, rises from the cornfields, threatening the town’s children. Groups of boys unite to defeat the murderous scarecrow before midnight. Richie, a rebellious outcast, joins the run, motivated by his brother’s previous victory. As the hunt progresses, Richie makes a shocking discovery and faces a pivotal choice to break the relentless cycle.
Movie Review
A well-crafted film in terms of technical aspects, acting, and production. At its core, it’s another Halloween story about the legend of Jack, this time set in the 60s with a Grease-style and a plot that is macabre and gory enough to please horror fans, with just the right amount of comedy for those of us who don’t take horror movies too seriously anymore.
It’s a pleasant and anecdotal combination, a twist on the same old story that manages to entertain, amuse, and satisfy almost everyone, except those who want a movie that takes itself seriously, because “Dark Harvest” doesn’t do that at all.
Our Opinion
While the film may not become the topic of discussion among the most avid movie enthusiasts, it achieves its goals being an original and engaging horror film worth checking out. But not much more than that.
