Infiesto (2023)

Infiesto is a Spanish movie written and directec by Patxi Amezcua starring Isak Férriz, Iria del Río and José Manuel Poga.

Infiesto takes us through backwater Spain in a dark thriller with secrets and devious characters. It is visually attractive, especially the surroundings.

About the Movie

The plot you might say is similar to Twin Peaks. It starts the same but later it is more a horror thriller in the vein of the trilogy of Baztán (El Guardián Invisible, Legado en los Huesos and Ofrenda a la Tormenta).

This movie is entertaining enough, well made visually and above all, knows how to use that “star landscape” that is so romantic (we are talking about Hoffman, of course) which shapes the movie in a good way.

The director does a good job in this third feature film (previously he had directed Séptimo and Carat): knows what he wants, how to direct a thriller and create the right atmosphere, know what to rely on and be guided by the cold and cruel landscape and not fall into sentimentality.

And, no, it is not like Twin Peaks nor is there a Log Lady, Infiesto is more of a police horror thriller, very classic (thankfully) and will be enjoyed for sure by those who love dark thrillers.

A very Spanish thriller, but with quality, well constructed and without a lot of great effects, bases itself on a good screenplay.

The characters are well defined from the very beginnng, in a single stroke, as should be seen in a good thriller, paving the way for the events.

This is something we are very thankful for.

Our Opinion

Although this movie is not a game-changer, it is a good thriller, with dominant dark landscapes, scary paths and criminal investigation.

It does not do anything surprising, but is entertaining and likeable, especially because in it they know how to take their story seriously.

This movie is a good combination of Hollywood thriller with that legendary tone, isolated wasteland that works so well (even in Hollywood).
