Rian Johnson wrote this tribute to Cluedo, Agatha Christie… Knives Out is a classic and entertaining whodunit.
With Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas and Chris Evans among others.
In Knives Out we will find great actors who, it is evident, are having a great time and the sensation is that they are making a classic movie that is different a at the same time. Lots of fun. Well worth watching.
Story line
Harlan Thrombey diez in suspicious circumstances, or not. A successful autor, has money… and some children who live in the shadow of their dad. Now it is time to find out the circumstances of his death.
The movie
Yes, an obvious tribute to Agatha Christie but not only that… true movie by Mankiewicz (who smoked with a pipe) hovers over the theme from the very first shots. Tributes to all sides of classic movies, excellent photography, a well cared for script and a theme that is not at all an ephemeral tribute to Agatha Christie: it goes beyond that.
On top of that, it improves more and more as it goes on. We are always expecting a surprise (and obviously, we will receive one).
Acting
Well, we have Daniel Craig enjoying his character, Ana de Armas, but also Don Johnson and Jamie Lee Curtis. When these folks from the “old school” get together is that the script is okay (and nowadays this is something to be thankful for).
Our opinion
It is well worth it. You will laugh and have a great time remembering the times when movies had a story.
