Robots” is a romantic comedy written and directed by Casper Christensen and Anthony Hines, starring Jack Whitehall and Shailene Woodley.

A decent premise wasted on a lack of inspiration from anyone involved.

Storyline

Two con artists in the era of illegal robotics end up chasing their robotic counterparts who they have fallen in love with.

Movie Review

“Robots” is a romantic comedy that falls short in both the romance and comedy departments. It relies heavily on AI jokes, but we must forgive its lack of humor and, above all, lack of inspiration.

Don’t worry, the automation of thought won’t end humanity, just those who are deemed useless and lack utility (yes, I too am utterly terrified). It’s a bit like this movie, which leaves you somewhat dumbfounded and unable to grasp its charm or rhythm. It could have been better in every way, but by taking the easy route with the plot and not opting for a more entertaining tone, it becomes a mere AI joke or a simple “this generic model cannot generate those responses”. . hilarity that we all hoped for.

“Robots” fails to capture the initial spark. Perhaps it’s meant to be a metaphor for the lack of humanity in machines? It’s possible, but even to me, it seems like a convoluted proposition that could have chosen a genre other than romantic comedy to achieve its Machiavellian tricks.

Simply put, “Robots” is a comedy without humor and a romance without feeling. It features talented actors, but Jack Whitehall lacks the dialogue to deliver a compelling performance, and Shailene Woodley. . well, she falls short too.
But since we’re only on version 4 or 4 plus. . let’s give it time, everything will come together, and soon AIs will fix uninspired days like this one.

Our Opinion

It’s not worth running away from, but rather seeking something else to do. The concept of “robotic doubles” in love had much more potential.

Or perhaps this whole notion of ending the “battle of the sexes” and being overly politically correct ultimately ruins romantic comedies.
