Run Sweetheart Run is a horror movie directed by Shana Feste, starring Ella Balinska.
A Blumhouse production that has a couple of high points, undoubtedly, and is worth the while and is rather original.
Feminist and is not shy about it.
Premise
Initially apprehensive when her boss insists she meet with one of his most important clients, single mom Cherie is relieved and excited when she meets charismatic Ethan. The influential businessman defies expectations and sweeps Cherie off her feet. But at the end of the night, when the two are alone together, he reveals his true, violent nature. Battered and terrified, she flees for her life, beginning a relentless game of cat-and-mouse with a bloodthirsty assailant hell-bent on her utter destruction. In this edge-of-your-seat dark thriller, Cherie finds herself in the crosshairs of a conspiracy stranger and more evil than she could have ever imagined.
Movie Review
It is to say the least, interesting, as far the story’s occurrences are concerned. This is a film that is in line with Scorese’s After Hours, but more evilly misogynistic (and the evident and reasonable resemblance to Run Lola Run is inevitable).
It is well produced, with a good tempo that keeps the viewer engaged. Very entertaining, and irreverent, it even has some very dark humor. ‘Run Sweetheart Run’ is self-ironic…. It is a hybrid of very dark satire and horror.
Technically, it is well executed without stylistic hooplas, as focus is placed on the narrative of the development of events in the story, and the protagonist’s fight, which is not easy.
Does it manage to convince? That will be up to you, the viewer, to decide, all we can say is that it will entertain you and that it is effective relaying its point.
Our Opinion
A good movie by Shana Feste, who manages to tell a very good story that comes under the guise of a horror movie.
