01 June 2023 (Toronto, ON) – On the heels of being announced as support for Dermot Kennedy’s latest Canadian tour dates this fall, today alternative-pop band Valley – Rob Laska, Mickey Brandolino, Alex Dimauro, and Karah James – release their latest single, “Have A Good Summer (Without Me)” through Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. This sad summery bop is the fourth single off the band’s upcoming sophomore album Lost In Translation and the countdown is on with only three weeks until it’s release on June 23.
“Have A Good Summer (Without Me)” captures a very specific type of heartache, one which is contradicted by sunshine and the expectations of the season. A theme that’s been explored by the likes of Lana Del Rey, Regina Spektor and Taylor Swift, Valley interprets that feeling of longing on their own terms, singing, If you fall for somebody new, do everything we used to do, I hope it gets you thinking about me, which if you’ve ever experienced a summer break-up, hits deep. On the track, Karah James describes, “the summer in our minds is a romanticized version of life. Love and its adventures are heightened with the heat and the water and the sunshine. The blow of losing someone before those precious few months of the year is devastating to say the least. Have A Good Summer (without me) is loving them so much, you will let them go.”
“Have A Good Summer (Without Me)” follows three previously released tracks, continuing to build anticipation for the upcoming sophomore album, including “Throwback Tears” which kicked off the album announcement and was covered by Kerala folk/indie group When Chai Met Toast and shared on Rolling Stone India, “Good, but not together” that was released alongside a live performance video and “Break For You” which has been a fan favourite as they perform it on their North American tour and recently appeared on the Canada Top 50 Viral chart on Spotify. So far, the three previously released tracks alone have garnered over 10 million global streams.
Valley confidently wrap up the final dates of their North American ‘Lost In Translation Tour’ headlining tour, where they received rave responses from audiences to the new songs on their set list that blend seamlessly into their catalogue of danceable love songs. This summer Valley pack up for a tour across Southeast Asia and Australia, performing headlining shows to their fans outside of North America. Those dates include a performance in Thailand for the Road To Sonic Bang Music Festival alongside LANY, ADOY, and Burnout Syndromes. The band are excited to announce they will be joining Dermot Kennedy as support on six newly announced dates of The Sonder Tour, playing arena venues across the country this fall. See the updated list of tour dates below. Tickets can be purchased on Valley’s website, here.
