The Okmoniks Electrify San Francisco’s Garage Rock Scene with “Afterparty Fever!!!!” and Announce Tour Dates

San Francisco-based band, The Okmoniks, ignite excitement with the release of their new LP "Afterparty Fever!!!!" on Slovenly Recordings, set to send shockwaves through the music industry on September 2nd, with vinyl editions hitting the shelves on September 27th.

The Okmoniks, comprising of Helene 33 on organ and vocals, Sammy on guitar, Jason on bass, and Pascual on drums, masterfully blend early punk and garage rock influences to create a sound that is both raw and irresistibly catchy. Originating in Tucson in 2000 and relocating to the Bay Area in 2009, The Okmoniks have established a reputation for their high-energy live performances and a series of self-released EPs, along with a previous LP on Slovenly Records. Their music captures the essence of proto-punk while offering a playful nod to their influences. “We love 60s and 70s west coast and San Francisco punk,” says Sammy. “We are book-ending the rock n’ roll era that Crime began in San Francisco as its last and only rock n’ roll band!”

Their forthcoming album is a testament to their songwriting skills and their deep connection to their DIY musical heritage, featuring original compositions and self-recordings. “Unlike a lot of garage or budget rock bands, The Okmoniks write our own songs,” Sammy explains. “But we had to pull one of our favorites out for this record, ‘Cry A Little Longer’ by a 60s punk band from Tucson called The Grodes.” Helene, celebrated for her intricate organ riffs, adds, “I play a 1960s Ace Tone Top 5 organ that requires frequent maintenance; we just tuned it and it sounds fantastic! I also love VOX Jaguars and Farfisa Compacts. These new organ simulator keyboards just don’t cut it. You need those transistors that catch on fire or whatever.”

The Okmoniks’ journey has taken them around the world, performing at renowned festivals like Mosswood Meltdown, Gonerfest, We’re Loud Italia, and Funtastic Dracula Carnival in Spain, alongside their favorite bands such as The Mummies and Reigning Sound. They have even graced unique stages, performing on boats in Sweden and old cruise ships across Europe, embodying their love for unconventional venues and experiences. “We wanted Afterparty Fever!!!! to sound like an all-night party on two sides,” Helene claims, “that’s because it’s the same 9 songs on both sides of the LP. Two great records for the price of one—for those on a budget!”

With their new LP “Afterparty Fever!!!!” and an exciting lineup of tour dates, The Okmoniks are set to continue their legacy of energetic performances and innovative garage rock sound.
