Malcolm McDowell is an English actor and voice artist, who has worked in a wide variety of genres in both film and television. He is best known for his roles as Alex in Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (1971), Mick Travis in Lindsay Anderson’s if…. (1968) and Caligula in Tinto Brass’ Caligula (1979). He has appeared in over 70 films since 1966, including Time After Time (1979), Cat People (1982), Star Trek Generations (1994), Tank Girl (1995) and Halloween (2018).
McDowell has been nominated for several awards, including two BAFTA Awards, four Saturn Awards and a Cannes Film Festival Award. In 2010 he was awarded an OBE for services to drama at Buckingham Palace. His career spans over five decades, ranging from iconic cult classic films of the 1960s, to contemporary Hollywood blockbusters. He remains one of the most recognizable figures of British cinema, often being cited as a major influence on modern day actors.
